Crimea (explosions etc.)

Since 2014, Crimea has been occupied by Russian forces, as Russia claims it has annexed the peninsula. It has long been a tourist destination for Russian citizens who are eager to enjoy Crimea's beaches and warmer weather. Retaking Crimea has been a long-term goal of the Ukrainian military, and Ukraine has attacked Russian infrastructure and military centers in Crimea at several points since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Many other memes, such as "Crying woman in a car fleeing from the Crimea" or those related to explosions on the Kerch Bridge (which connects Crimea to mainland Russia), have arisen in relation to the general preoccupation with Crimea and Ukraine's eventual recapturing of the region.
