Memes involving Ukraine's heroes most often include military or political leaders. Figures such as military commander-in-chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ministry of Defense head of intelligence Kyrylo Budanov, Governor of Mylokayiv Vitalii Kim, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are perennial topics of such memes. People from Ukrainian history are depicted as well, such as authors Taras Shevchenko and Lesya Ukrainka. Memes of this type will often invoke the chosen hero in their normal environment; however, many memes will place the figure in other situations, such as attributing the shark attack in Egypt to Budanov.
