SUCHO Meme Wall Kherson raccoon
As Russian troops were withdrawing from Kherson, one soldier stole a raccoon from the Kherson zoo (link to story below). Afterward, state media reported that this stolen raccoon was raising morale among a group of Russian paratroopers. This led to the creation of memes in which either one raccoon or many raccoons band together for revenge. Furthermore, raccoons became a part of the meme language for some creators, and the figure of a raccoon came to imply that opposition to Russia’s war in Ukraine is not delimited to human actors. Memes of this type seem episodic and to have arisen in the immediate aftermath of the theft of this raccoon.
