"Bavovna" ("cotton / clap" - explosion in Russia or on occupied territories)
"Bavovna" is Ukrainian for "cotton" and is used as a euphemism for "explosion" in memes. This plays on the tendency in Russian media to avoid admitting that explosions are occurring within the borders of the Russian Federation or in occupied territories. This term came about because of the stress patterns in the Russian language; "khlopók" means "explosion," "crack," "pop" in Russian, while "khlópok" means "cotton." This latter meaning of the word is how it was translated into Ukrainian. As such, the word "bavovna" or imagery of cotton stands in for "explosion."
