Return to the Meme Wall

“I am not ashamed / We are not ashamed”

After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian media has claimed that the west is Russophobic, leading to campaigns in which Russians proclaim that they are not ashamed of being Russian (link to article below). This phrase has been employed in Russian propaganda about the war, implying that criticism of Russia's war against Ukraine is meant to make Russians feel guilty for their nationality. Memes invoking this language seek to assert that there is, indeed, something to feel shame for, especially in connection to the suffering of Ukrainians as a result of Russian aggression.
